Cardiac and Psychology Research on Station as Crew-12 Adjusts Launch Date

The planned launch of a four-member crew to the International Space Station has been postponed due to poor weather conditions. The mission teams completed a final review but determined forecasted conditions were unfavorable for the scheduled liftoff. A new target launch date is under evaluation.

Aboard the orbiting laboratory, the current Expedition crew maintained a busy schedule of scientific research and operational tasks. A significant portion of their work centered on human health studies crucial for long-duration spaceflight. This included cardiac research to understand how microgravity affects heart function and cardiovascular health over time.

Complementing the biological studies, astronauts also engaged in psychological research. These experiments aim to support crew well-being and team dynamics during isolated and confined missions, providing valuable data for future journeys to the Moon and Mars. Alongside this critical science, the crew also managed cargo from a recent resupply spacecraft and performed routine maintenance on the station's systems to ensure continued smooth operations. The incoming crew members are awaiting their new launch date to begin their own six-month science mission.
